Authorities from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), part of India’s finance ministry, raided the headquarters of insurtech company InsuranceDekho following allegations of tax evasion.

Employees were restricted from certain office areas during the raid, while senior officials, including the CEO, were reportedly absent.

The DGGI has not disclosed findings from the raid, nor has the company issued a statement.

This investigation may relate to prior GST cases involving fraudulent invoices issued by insurance firms, with alleged tax evasion amounting to 2,250 crore rupees (around US$272 million) between 2018 and March 2022.
