Chennai-based space tech startup OrbitAid has raised US$1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures, with participation from the Tamil Nadu government’s Tansim initiative.

The startup plans to use the funds for in-space demonstrations related to docking and refueling operations, technology development, and workforce expansion.

Founded in 2021 by Sakthikumar R, Nikhil Balasubramanian, and Mano Balaji, OrbitAid focuses on sustainable satellite operations using its patented product, the Standard Interface Docking and Refueling Port (SIDRP).

This technology aims to extend satellite lifespans and reduce space debris.
