Indian OTT platform Stage nets $12.5m series B

Stage, a regional over-the-top (OTT) platform, has raised US$12.5 million (107.5 crore rupee) in its series B funding round.

The round was co-led by Goodwater Capital and Blume Ventures. Other participants included Physis Capital, Venture Catalysts, Inflection Point Ventures, Mumbai Angels, The Chennai Angels, and Fynd co-founder Harsh Shah, and existing angel investors.

The funding includes US$10 million in primary capital and US$2.5 million in secondary capital.

Stage plans to use the funds to expand its content offerings in three regional languages of India, while exploring new categories like live sports, devotional content, and children’s programming.

Founded in 2019, the platform produces web series, films, and short films in Haryanvi and Rajasthani languages.

The platform reports 20 million users, including over 4.4 million paid subscribers, competing with regional OTT players like aha Video, Planet Marathi, and Hoichoi.
