Indian kitchen appliances startup Beyond Appliances nets $4m

Bengaluru-based kitchen appliances startup Beyond Appliances has raised US$4 million in a funding round led by Fireside Ventures with participation from Dharana Capital.

Founded in 2024 by Eshwar K Vikas and Rakesh Patil, the company operates four factories in Bengaluru and plans to add two more this year to boost production.

Beyond Appliances manufactures a smart stove with digital timers and a chimney with an integrated Android system, both made in India.

Its products are sold on its own website, Amazon, Flipkart, and select retail stores in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

The startup reported an annual revenue run rate of about 50 crore rupee (US$5.7 million) and last raised US$2 million in November 2024.

Beyond Appliances plans to expand retail operations to Mumbai and Delhi through partnerships with offline retailers and modern trade outlets.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Smart kitchen startups face different challenges in India despite global market failures

Beyond Appliances’ rapid growth contrasts sharply with high-profile global failures in smart kitchen appliances.

Juicero, which raised $70 million for its $699 smart juicer in 2016, became a cautionary tale when the company collapsed after consumers discovered they could squeeze the juice packs by hand1.

India’s market dynamics appear more favorable. The smart home appliance market is projected to reach $19.31 billion by 2030, growing at 30% annually, with over 600 startups now operating in this space2.

Beyond Appliances’ focus on Indian-specific needs, like chimneys with integrated entertainment systems and stoves with safety timers, addresses real pain points rather than creating new consumption habits.

The startup’s success selling 80% through marketplaces and achieving a Rs 50 crore revenue run rate within its first year suggests Indian consumers are more receptive to practical smart kitchen solutions than their global counterparts were to premium lifestyle products.

2️⃣ Hardware startups require aggressive manufacturing scaling to capture market timing

Beyond Appliances’ plan to expand from four to six factories within one year of founding illustrates the manufacturing intensity required for hardware success.
