Indian investors raise stake in Paytm to 51.6%

One 97 Communications, which operates Paytm, said in an exchange filing that domestic investors held about 51.6% up from 50.3% a quarter earlier. That kept Paytm’s Indian-owned and controlled company status, which it first achieved in March 2026.

Domestic institutional ownership rose to 24.9% from 23.1%. Mutual funds increased their stake to 17.9% from 16.6%, while insurance companies raised theirs to 5.3% from 5.1%.

In the March quarter, foreign institutional ownership had fallen to 49.4% from 51.75%, while mutual fund holdings had risen to 16.6%.

The update follows Paytm’s FY26 results, when the company reported its first full-year profit on revenue that rose 22% year on year.
