Ho Chi Minh City plans new EV stations at 19 bus terminals

Ho Chi Minh City has proposed installing EV charging stations at 19 existing bus terminals and parking yards to expand green transportation.

The Department of Construction plans to lease asset-use rights at these locations for seven years through public auctions.

Firms bidding must have at least two years of experience in managing road-traffic infrastructure.

They must also be legally established and registered. In addition, they need to show audited financial statements with minimum revenue and pre-tax profit over two consecutive years.

The proposal includes EV chargers and battery-swap cabinets. Stations are required to follow fire safety rules, service pricing regulations, and road-traffic laws.

They must also comply with charging-port software requirements and other official conditions.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has only five charging stations for more than 700 electric buses, falling short of planned demand.
