Hitachi Ventures raises $400m fund for tech innovation

Hitachi Ventures has announced the successful raising of US$400 million for its fourth fund.

The Munich-based corporate venture capital firm, supported exclusively by Japan’s Hitachi, Ltd., will primarily invest in series A rounds across various sectors, including energy, manufacturing, biotechnology, and AI.

The firm is also exploring investments in emerging areas such as quantum technologies, nuclear energy, space technology, and life sciences, according to Managing Director and CEO Stefan Gabriel.

Initial investments are expected to average around US$5 million, with roughly 55% of the fund allocated for follow-on investments, as said by Partner and CFO Wolfgang Seibold.
