Google fights $4.5b EU fine over Android antitrust claims
On Jan. 27, Google contested a €4.3 billion (US$4.5 billion) fine from the European Commission in an appeals hearing at the EU’s Court of Justice.
The fine, issued in 2018, accused Google of anti-competitive practices related to Android’s dominance.
Allegations included requiring manufacturers to pre-install Google Search and Chrome for Play Store access, offering financial incentives for exclusivity, and restricting alternative Android versions.
