Google challenges Intel with 60% greener Axion CPU

Google Cloud, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., has introduced a new chip designed with Arm Holdings technology.

The Axion chip, a central processing unit (CPU), targets competition with offerings from Intel and Advanced Micro Devices.

Spotify Technology and Paramount Global are using the chip to enhance their streaming services.

Google’s initiative aligns it with cloud computing giants Amazon and Microsoft, which also provide Arm-based CPUs.

Arm-based chips have the advantage of lower electricity consumption compared to Intel and AMD products.

Google states its Axion chip is 60% more energy efficient than conventional CPUs.
