The company said it will use the capital to develop its AI-powered collections agent and expand its network of field collection agents.

DPDzero works with Indian financial institutions such as Tata Capital, Moneyview, L&T Finance, and Manappuram Finance to manage debt collection.

DPDzero claims its revenue has grown 6x in the past 18 months.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ India’s debt collection industry has undergone a dramatic transformation from problematic to technology-driven

The shift toward AI-powered debt collection represents a significant evolution from India’s troubled collection history.

In 2010, aggressive microfinance collection tactics led to borrower suicides and government intervention, with interest rates ranging from 24% to 30% per annum creating unsustainable debt burdens for the poor 1.

By 2011, major institutions like ICICI Bank began pioneering technology-driven approaches, using business intelligence to manage 30 lakh delinquent cases and developing 10 payment propensity scorecards to replace manual allocation processes 2.

Today’s market reflects this transformation, with the debt collection software sector projected to reach over $272 million by 2027, emphasizing respectful, non-intrusive communication over traditional aggressive methods 3.

DPDzero’s “ethics-first, tech-led approach” positioning directly addresses this historical context, where regulatory bodies like the RBI have increased supervision to enforce adherence to fair debt recovery procedures 4.

2️⃣ The competitive landscape shows both market validation and significant opportunity

DPDzero enters a market where established players like Credgenics already serve over 150 lenders and claim 25% efficiency improvements for clients 5.
