Ex-MrBeast content lead launches AI tool for creators

Jay Neo, a former content lead for short videos at MrBeast, has launched Palo, an AI-driven tool to help creators with content ideation and analytics.

Palo was co-founded with Shivam Kumar, a former Palantir engineer, and creator Harry Jones.

The platform analyzes creators’ short-form video content across major platforms like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, offering insights into what is working and what is not.

Palo combines AI-powered ideation, analytics, and a community feature, allowing creators to integrate their accounts and receive insights on video performance.

In its test phase, the company worked with about 40 creators with more than 1 million users across channels, and it is now available to those with at least 100,000 followers, starting at US$250 per month.

Palo has raised US$3.8 million in funding from Peak XV’s Surge (formerly Sequoia India), NFX, and individual investors.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Palo chases high-earning creators without product-market fit proof

  • Palo charges $250 per month, which targets creators with 100k+ followers. The plan focuses on professional creators, 44% say their creator work is the family’s main income 1. The company has not shared beta (early testing) results with view lift, retention gains, or revenue increases that justify the fee.
  • Palo tested with about 40 creators. It has not shared conversion to paid customers, churn rates (the share of customers who cancel), or retention metrics (how long customers stay subscribed). The US$3.8 million round leans on the founding team’s pedigree, which includes a former MrBeast content lead and a former Palantir engineer, without quantified proof that its AI insights beat native analytics or rival tools.

Mid-tier creators present an opening for lighter analytics tools

  • For Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) founders and investors, Palo’s focus exposes a gap for the 41 million creators with 10k-100k followers 2. Many in this group spend 10 hours or less per week on content 1. A $50-100 per month tool with core insights, minus multi-account reporting and team workflows, could win them.
  • The opening spans many platforms. Instagram micro-influencers (5k-20k followers) make up 44% of creators 1. A freemium model (a free basic tier with optional paid upgrades) with simple analytics could fit this market. Three in five beginner creators have not monetized yet 1, and the first dollar often arrives after six and a half months 1.
