Ex-OpenAI scientist’s firm expands to Tel Aviv, eyes $20b

Safe Superintelligence (SSI), an AI startup co-founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, is expanding in Tel Aviv with new hires.

It is also relocating to Midtown, adding to its Silicon Valley presence.

Founded in May 2024 by Sutskever, Daniel Levy, and Daniel Gross, the startup has raised US$1 billion at a US$5 billion valuation from investors like Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.

It is reportedly seeking additional funding that could push its valuation to US$20 billion.

The company has not disclosed its technologies or products but aims to develop AI models surpassing human intelligence while aligning with human interests.
