Chinese tech listings gain in HK on domestic tech support
Chinese technology companies listed in Hong Kong have seen above-average gains in their IPO debuts in 2026, with Shanghai Biren Technology, OmniVision Integrated Circuit Group, and three others rising by an average of 30 percent, compared to the 24 percent average of all IPOs this year.
Biren’s shares surged 76 percent on its first trading day, making it the top performer.
The strong debut performance aligns with China’s focus on technological self-reliance outlined in the country’s latest five-year plan, focusing on AI and advanced manufacturing.
Hong Kong’s IPO market rebounded last year, with 114 companies raising US$37.2 billion, mainly from mainland China, making it the top global IPO venue for the first time since 2019.
The momentum is expected to continue into 2026, with over 350 companies considering listings.
