Chinese robotics startup Noetix gains fame after marathon
Noetix Robotics, a Chinese startup founded in 2023 by Jiang Zheyuan, gained attention after its N2 robot finished second in the world’s first half-marathon for robots in April 2025.
The event was broadcast across China and sparked interest from event organizers, museums, and research institutes.
The N2, priced at US$6,000, has also attracted potential sales partners in Europe and the Middle East.
The Beijing-based company now has 100 employees and plans to deliver 2,000 robots by the end of the year.
To meet rising demand, Noetix will open two new factories and increase production to 10,000 units annually by next year. It is also in talks to raise US$35 million at a US$200 million valuation.
Jiang has prepared contingency plans for possible US export restrictions, as the N2 relies on chips from Intel and STMicroelectronics.

The Beijing robot marathon’s low completion rate (only 6 of 21 robots finished) revealed the significant technical challenges still facing the industry. However, it also demonstrated how public competitions can expose limitations while creating marketing opportunities 2.
China’s overall robotics ambitions are backed by substantial government investment, with over $30 billion committed to AI and robotics development as part of the national goal to become the global leader in these technologies by 2030 3.
