Chinese portable battery firm EcoFlow said to plan US IPO
EcoFlow Technology, a Shenzhen-based maker of portable batteries and appliances, is considering a US initial public offering, according to people familiar with the matter.
The company is working with advisers and may raise at least US$300 million through the share sale, though details could change.
EcoFlow’s IPO timing depends on approval from Chinese regulators, the sources said.
Most recent US listings by Chinese firms have been small, often via special purpose acquisition companies.
Founded in 2017, EcoFlow produces portable power stations, solar panels, and household appliances.
EcoFlow last raised over US$100 million in 2021 from investors including HSG (formerly Sequoia Capital China), Hillhouse, and China International Capital Corp.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
EcoFlow’s at least US$300 million US initial public offering (IPO) looks modest vs US$630 million 2022 projection and 150x growth
- The company projected US$630 million in 2022 revenue, up nearly 150x from 2019, after US$220 million in 2021 1. The planned raise signals conservative pricing or thinner margins.
- The largest store, ecoflow.com, reached US$251 million in 2024 GMV (total sales transacted), with 39% from the U.S. 2, which raises tariff and regulatory exposure that could squeeze margins.
- The company hit unicorn status in 2021 at US$1 billion after raising over US$100 million (unicorn means private valuation of at least US$1 billion) 1. A US$300 million raise years later, without shared profit or gross margin figures, raises worries about execution and growth durability.
Sparse US dealer list opens room for retail and logistics partners before US expansion
- A fresh look at the US Where to Buy page listed Battery Bill in Hawaii and Power Solar PR in Puerto Rico 3, leaving room for big-box stores, outdoor chains, and home improvement players in backup power.
- ecoflow.com runs 100% first‑party GMV (sales made directly by EcoFlow), with no third‑party sellers in 2024 2. A US IPO can unlock reach, creating openings for 3PLs and fulfillment firms to support omnichannel expansion (selling online and in stores).
- The firm works with certified local installers for whole‑home power systems, yet network visibility looks thin, so solar installers, electricians, and home services platforms can step in early to support the “Installation Within 7 Days” promise 45.
