The United States Department of Defense (DoD) has added Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), a major Chinese battery manufacturer, to its blacklist, which includes Tencent.

Analysts believe this move could benefit South Korean battery producers like LG Energy Solution, SK On, and Samsung SDI, boosting their market shares as investor interest in Korean battery stocks grows.

This decision, effective June 2025, will prevent the DoD from engaging with these companies but does not affect private-sector partnerships.

CATL, which supplies major automakers like Tesla and BMW, has denied links to China’s military, as has the Chinese government.
