B Capital has appointed Dr. Andrew Jackson as general partner and chief AI officer. He will lead its AI strategy across investment, portfolio management, operations, and support for AI businesses it incubates.

The hire adds an AI lead at B Capital, which invests from seed to early- and late-stage venture growth across technology, healthcare, and resilience tech.

It also builds on B Capital’s existing AI push. Its Ascent Fund III has made more than 20 investments in AI infrastructure, robotics, healthcare, and frontier technologies.

Jackson was most recently group chief AI officer at G42, an Abu Dhabi-based AI and technology company.

B Capital said he worked with OpenAI on country-specific AI strategies in the United Arab Emirates and oversaw governance for Stargate UAE, a 1-gigawatt AI compute cluster being built in Abu Dhabi.

The appointment comes as other venture capital firms have also moved to create formal AI leadership roles.
