AWS opens Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, establishing its second office in the city’s central business district.
Located at IOI Central Boulevard Towers, the new office covers 360,000 square feet across eight floors.
The office can accommodate up to 3,000 employees and will support over 100 local and regional teams, including software engineering, machine learning, and data center engineering.
AWS currently employs over 2,500 people in Singapore and plans to hire more than 100 additional employees in cloud and corporate roles.
This expansion follows AWS’s S$12 billion (US$8.8 billion) investment announcement in May 2024 to strengthen Singapore’s cloud infrastructure from 2024 to 2028.
The company expects this investment to contribute S$23.7 billion (US$17.5 billion) to Singapore’s GDP and support 12,300 full-time equivalent jobs annually.
The new office houses AWS’s first flagship executive briefing center in Asia, with an innovation hub set to open later this year.
