Apple supplier Tata Electronics reports cyber incident
Tata Electronics, an Indian electronics and semiconductor manufacturer, said it had identified a cybersecurity incident affecting some systems,
The disclosure came weeks after a hacker forum advertised more than 630GB of alleged company data, including material reportedly linked to Apple and Tesla.
A sample from more than 204,300 files appeared to contain Apple supplier specifications, Tesla manufacturing documents, Microsoft Outlook email conversations, and SAP-related information.
The data’s authenticity, provenance, and completeness could not be independently verified.
Tata Electronics said it had activated response protocols and that operations were unaffected.
However, it did not say what data may have been compromised, whether customers had been notified, or whether Apple and Tesla data was exposed.
Tata Electronics told some employees at its iPhone assembly operations that Apple was investigating the incident and that it had received a ransom demand.
The breach comes as Tata Electronics has become an important part of Apple’s manufacturing expansion in India.
The company entered iPhone manufacturing in 2023 by acquiring Wistron’s India operations and later bought a 60% stake in Pegatron’s Indian unit.
