Apple asks Indian court to pause antitrust finances probe
Apple has filed a request with an Indian court to prevent the country’s antitrust authority from requesting its global financial records amid an investigation into its app store policies, according to court documents.
The company is challenging the validity of India’s penalty rules, which it argues could lead to a fine of up to US$38 billion if its global turnover is used for calculations.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) began seeking financial details from Apple on December 31, despite the ongoing legal dispute.
Apple has asked the Delhi High Court to halt the investigation and prevent the CCI from acting against it while the legal challenge proceeds.
The court is scheduled to hear the case on January 27.
Neither Apple nor the CCI responded to requests for comment.
