Ant International and LankaPay, Sri Lanka’s national payment network, have initiated a new program to enable cross-border mobile payments through the LankaQR network.

This collaboration allows users of 14 international payment apps under Ant International’s Alipay+ platform to transact at over 400,000 merchants across Sri Lanka.

Travelers from 10 countries and regions – including China, South Korea, Singapore, and Italy – can use their preferred digital wallets to make payments by scanning LankaQR codes.

This initiative aims to simplify payment processes for tourists and increase business for local merchants.

The first phase of the program includes partner apps such as Alipay, AlipayHK, MPay, Hipay, GCash, Changi Pay, OCBC Digital, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, MyPB, Naver Pay, Toss Pay, TrueMoney, BigPay, and Tinaba.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka introduced the LankaQR network in 2020 to standardize and ensure interoperability for QR-code-based transactions in the country.
