Alibaba’s food delivery branch names new CEO

Wu Zeming, the CTO of Alibaba and chairman of its food delivery branch Ele.me, has been appointed CEO, according to Ele.me’s announcement on Feb. 11.

Han Liu, the former CEO, will now lead the Instant Logistics Center and report directly to Wu.

This shift highlights the increasing significance of instant logistics for Ele.me, as stated in an internal memo from Wu.

Wu Zeming joined Alibaba in 2004 and has held key positions, including CTO and president of the local services division. He became chairman of Ele.me in March 2024.

This announcement follows Alibaba’s reporting of a 14% revenue growth in the local services division to 17.7 billion yuan (around US$2.4 billion) in its latest quarterly results. The company also reduced its operating loss by 85%, decreasing it to 391 million yuan (around US$53.5 million).
