Alibaba, WeChat in talks to launch Taobao mini program

Alibaba is reportedly in talks with WeChat to launch a mini program for its ecommerce platform Taobao.

This move could allow Taobao users to shop and pay directly within the WeChat app, which is owned by Tencent and has over a billion monthly active users.

Sources said Taobao may also enable WeChat Pay’s password-free payment feature as part of the integration.

WeChat has not publicly responded to requests for comment on the discussions.

If finalized, the collaboration could make Taobao more accessible to WeChat’s large user base in China.
