A new advocacy group backed by the AI industry, called Build American AI, plans to launch a multimillion-dollar ad campaign promoting federal regulation of AI.

Build American AI is an offshoot of Leading the Future, a pro-AI super PAC that has reportedly raised US$100 million for political efforts.

Unlike its parent group, Build American AI is set up as a nonprofit, which means it is not required to publicly disclose its donors.

The group aims to push for uniform federal guidelines instead of state-by-state regulation, as some states—including California—have already passed or are considering their own AI rules.

Build American AI is expected to spend at least US$10 million on ads through spring 2026, but details on which states will be targeted have not been disclosed.
