NEW: Buy G.M Cars on eBay

GM LogoLadies and Gentlemen, you can now buy G.M cars on eBay!

Yes, G.M had hit an agreement to set up a G.M portal on eBay, launching today. Through this portal, shoppers can conveniently surf dealers’ online showrooms, make inquiries, discuss prices and arrange financing.

Up to 20,000 vehicles and 225 California dealers would be involved on the site, G.M. stated.

“Together with eBay Motors, GM and our dealers are reinventing the car-buying experience for our California customers,” Mark LaNeve, G.M.’s vice president for U.S. sales commented. “As the dealer showroom expands from the parking lot to the laptop, this makes it easier for a customer to browse available new-car inventory, make an offer, buy it now, or send a message asking for more information from a dealer — all at the customer’s convenience.”

G.M. will be the first automobile maker to sell new models (Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Pontiac) on eBay, gathering individual dealers together in this portal for the first time.

Having battled huge losses for the past 5 years and a 40 day bankruptcy, G.M. was given a second chance. With the new G.M company launch, this partnership with eBay is part of the plan to build stronger brands and dealers. After cutting down its brands to four, G.M aims to put more resources into each of its 34 U.S. nameplate, while still having the largest dealer network.

With eBay’s 12 million monthly visits by individual car shoppers and experience with users’ car buying patterns, it could help G.M. extend its reach and start the consumer trend of buying new vehicles online.
