Event management is a huge headache. But the biggest problem isn’t the about the logistics. The biggest headache is thinking of ideas to get your event filled up.
Founded in July 2010, Indonesia and U.S based eEvent aims to help every event maximize its attendance. eEvent is a robust event management platform that focuses on maximizing attendance through fun game mechanics, social media and geo location technology to reward the true influencer of your event. In short, eEvent makes your event viral.
“We started eEvent because all of the founders are event planner and actively involve in managing one of the biggest Asian festival in US. As event planners, the biggest headache that we face is actually how to get our events sold out,” Edy Sulistyo, Co-Founder and CTO of eEvent told Penn Olson.
“We tried many different ways such as flyers, TV ads, radio ads, banners and while all of these methods helped us to spread the word, the result produced is not worth the cost and effort. Some of the events that we managed don’t even have marketing budget to start with!”
eEvent isn’t the average online ticketing or events websites which simply post your events and tickets online and expect things to move on from there. eEvent goes the extra mile by helping you to target your key ambassadors (influencers) and help to spread the word through its ready guest list and socially integrated platform. eEvent makes commission out of ticket sales: 2.5% + $1 for every ticket sales for paid event. For charity events, eEvent will give back 50 percent of its fee for every ticket sold.
The video below summarizes it best.
“The least expensive way to sell your event is through word of mouth. But the problem is: How can we get people to talk positively about an event?” said Edy.
“We have tried many different event management platforms out there and while all of the features such as online ticketing, registration, attendee management are nice, none of them solve our biggest problem,” he added.
eEvent seems to be the right solution for event managers.
So far so good: eEvent has more than 10,000 users and managed over 550 events since its launch in January 2011. That’s an amazing result within three months. The eEvent team consists of 5 people in the Jakarta office and 7 people in the Columbus, Ohio office. All of the founders and executive team are Indonesians. The founder team consists of Edy Sulistyo, Andi Sie and Lawrence Samantha. eEvent is backed by an undisclosed angel investors in the U.S.
“We are very excited about our upcoming Facebook apps which provides even deeper integration,” said Edy when asked about eEvent’s future plans.
The idea of making an event viral is extremely enticing. Plus, eEvent charges based on per ticket sold reduces the risk for event managers. There isn’t a fix cost that event managers have to risk when selling through eEvent. Think about it: If each of your ticket is priced at $100, your selling cost would just be $3.50 ($2.50 + 1%) per ticket. Selling 100 tickets would just cost $350. How do you create a viral event with no or little budget? I think eEvent is one of the best solutions around.
