From elementary school-aged computer whiz kids to internationally-recognized serial entrepreneurs, Japanese-American brothers Daniel and William Saito may be the most well-known siblings in Japan’s tech scene that aren’t named Masayoshi and Taizo. From working for the biggest names in tech to founding their own tech-centric businesses, the Saito brothers are bona fide experts on the domestic startup ecosystem.

Explaining the duo’s extensive backgrounds in technology could fill a book, so you can refer to their Linkedin pages for the full scoop. Here’s an abridged version to give you a general idea of what the Saito brothers are up to ahead of their fireside chat next week at Startup Asia Tokyo:

Daniel is the founder and CEO of RedRobot K.K., a boutique tech and creative agency based in Tokyo – investor to the database solutions firm MariaDB Inc. – and the VP of world wide sales and marketing at the data integration company, Flydata. He’s previously worked for NTT Docomo R&D, MySQL, Sun Microsystems, and Oracle. Daniel also served as a judge at Startup Asia Area pitch battles in Singapore (2011) and Jakarta (2012).

William is a special technology adviser to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s cabinet and the president and CEO of InTecur, a venture capital and technology consultancy firm. Before moving to Japan full-time in 2004, he was a world-renowned biometric security expert who developed one of the world’s first fingerprint scanners. William has founded, invested in, or directly assisted no fewer than 25 companies. He was named the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 1998 and included in Nikkei’s list of the 100 most influential people for Japan.

Daniel and WIlliam will take the stage at 10:45 on September 4, the second day of Startup Asia Tokyo, to talk about the future of tech entrepreneurship in Japan. Whether you’re building your own startup, thinking about investing in one, or are simply interested in what to expect out of Japan’s world-class tech ecosystem, don’t miss your chance to see both of the Saito brothers in one place.
